2013 has been an amazing year for African cycling. Daryl Impey became the first African ever to wear the leader’s yellow jersey at this year’s Tour de France. Chris Froome then went on to become the first African born winner of the grand tour (And let’s be honest he is more African than he is British), and then Louis Meintjes won silver in the under 23 UCI World Championship road race.

Those are just three of a great number of superb African Cycling performances this year. But those performances have come off years and years of blood, sweat and tears for the individuals involved but also from many people behind the scenes that have poured their heart and souls into making African cycling great. One of those people is JP van Zyl from the World Cycling Centre Africa. JP caught up with Brad Brown from Cycle Talk SA this week to chat about the rise of African cycling. It is one of the best feel good stories you’ll hear in a long time.
This week we also touched base with Grant Usher at the Africa Cycle Fair and we also launch our Cycle Talk SA Momentum 94.7 Charity Wager, a chance for you to win some money for a charity of your choice. You can find out more about it here.
