RideWrap is a rider-owned and operated business, founded in Canada. Their mission is to help cyclists keep their bikes looking and performing their best for longer, and it has grown into a global brand with offices and warehouses worldwide. We put their Covered Protection kit and Tailored fork kit to the test in the real world.

Overview & Product Range

RideWrap offer a comprehensive selection of solutions designed to protect frames, forks, cranks, wheels, and more. They produce protection kits for a wide variety of bicycles, covering categories such as road, gravel, mountain, commuter, e-bikes, and children’s bikes. To date, the company has developed more than 370,000 fit options, and continues to expand this catalogue.

Their range includes:

  • Tailored Protection™ – model-, year- and size-specific kits that offer up to 99% coverage for frame and fork. They’re engineered with strategic seams for optimal fit and protection.
  • Covered Protection™ – universal-fit kits providing roughly 60% coverage, focused on high-wear areas.
  • Essential Protection™  – DIY-friendly, cut to fit to protect key areas you think need protection, protecting up to 30% of your bike frame.
  • Creator Protection™, Fork/Crank/Wheel and Shuttle Armor, plus accessories like chainstay armor and a chain sound dampener.

Every kit includes all installation essentials—pre-cut film, cleaning wipes, squeegee, install solution, and microfiber, in a neat, easy to use package.

I installed the Covered Protection kit for the frame and the Tailored Protection on the fork on the Titan Racing Cypher DC Carbon Empire long term review bike.

Key Features

RideWrap’s Lotus Pro™ 10 is the world’s first bicycle-specific protection film made with 77% recycled materials. It’s built as a three-layer system crafted for the unique demands of bicycles:

Top Layer: A superhydrophobic TPU topcoat with embedded ceramic technologies. It repels dirt like a lotus leaf, cleans quickly, and features self-healing capabilities—light scuffs vanish with gentle heat (like sunlight).

Middle Layer: A precisely 10-MIL (a thousandth of an inch) thick TPU core: engineered for better impact dissipation, offering robust protection against the low-velocity, high-mass impacts typical in cycling.

Base Layer: A specialized acrylic adhesive that bonds effectively with all bicycle paint systems, including matte finishes and tight curves. It’s designed to adhere securely and remove cleanly without damaging your bike’s paint.

It’s available in both matte and gloss finishes to match your bike. Additionally, the film is backed by a 10-year warranty against yellowing or cracking

Pricing

Pricing obviously varies depending which protection level you choose and type (frame, wheels, fork etc).

The Tailored Protection Fork Kit for a RockShox SID Ultimate (2024–2026, 29”) costs US $41.25, which at the current exchange rate comes to roughly ZAR 770. The Covered Protection Dual Suspension Frame Kit comes in at US $38.35, or about ZAR 715. Shipping and customs duties will add to the total.

I felt like the frame protection in particular was a worthwhile investment largely from a peace of mind perspective, but also in terms of protecting future resale value.

Getting your RideWrap

It took four days from placing the order to it being shipped, and then a further seven until it arrived at customs. Customs duties and VAT cost around ZAR300, and once this was paid it was delivered by UPS two days later. So be prepared to wait roughly two weeks for your order.

Installation

The Ride Wrap kit comes with almost everything you need to install at home. The box includes a squeegee, install solution, microfibre cloth and printed installation instructions. All I had to do was borrow a bike stand, invest in a spray bottle, and watch their comprehensive video guides before getting started.

Don’t under-estimate the time and focus required to install this at home: set aside a few hours to give it your full attention. I was very skeptical, but once I got going and realised that it was very easy to remove and reinstall film, I relaxed and enjoyed the process. The film is forgiving of mistakes, and I removed and re-applied several key pieces when I wasn’t happy with the finish. The real trick is lining up the film and using the squeegee to lock it into place without leaving air bubbles.

My personal recommendation is to start with a spotless bike. Take it for the mother of all wash and lubes before you end up wasting time trying to clean it up on the fly. Finally, set aside a few days to allow the film to cure for the best possible bond.

Protection & Finish

The film performs well at resisting scratches and scuffs, heals light marks, and to-date has kept it’s finish.

An unexpected bonus is that it sheds moisture and dirt easily, making the bike easier to clean. That said: when the bike is dirty you will notice the seams of the wrap pieces more clearly- as dust seems to settle on those edges. When it is clean they are almost invisible and the film is barely noticeable at a glance.

Value & Resale Protection

Whether you will save the value of the wrap back in second hand resale value is debatable, and probably depends largely on variables such as, your type of riding, the value of your bike and marketplace demand. What I do enjoy about having my bike wrapped is the peace of mind it brings. It’s one less thing to consider on the trail, and for me that is where the real value lies.

Now that I have gone through the home installation process I’d feel a lot more confident tackling it again, and would expect the process to run more smoothly.

Conclusion

RideWrap protection kits offer a thoughtful balance of protection, sustainability, and rider-focused design. From the recycled Lotus Pro™ film to the well-considered kit options, it’s clear the brand understands both the demands of modern bikes and the expectations of their owners.

Home installation takes patience, but the end result is a near-invisible shield that shrugs off wear, makes cleaning easier, and gives added confidence when pushing your bike on the trail.
