The Cape Town Cycle Tour is proud to announce new partners, Standard Bank and Liberty.
As organisers prepare for the 47th Cape Town Cycle Tour, the largest timed bike race in the world, this exciting collaboration heralds a new era, mirrored in both aligned ethos and enthusiasm by all stakeholders.

“We are incredibly excited to announce our new partnership with Standard Bank and Liberty. As an event that is centred entirely on a return on investment directly into the communities of Cape Town, it makes absolute sense to move forward with some of South Africa’s leading investment and finance brands and brains, on board. Standard Bank and Liberty will grow with us over the coming years and enable increased and ongoing charitable investments through the Pedal Power Association and the Rotary Club of Claremont,” Cape Town Cycle Tour Trust Director, David Bellairs said.
Standard Bank has reiterated their continued, strategic intent to foster partnerships that enable growth and upliftment within communities across the Western Cape.
“We’re thrilled to join forces with the Cape Town Cycle Tour, the world’s largest timed bike race. This collaboration enables us to deepen our commitment to communities by supporting an iconic event that blends athletic excellence with meaningful social impact. Cycling is an increasing popular sport, and many of our clients are enthusiastic participants. This tour’s proven track record particularly aligns with our objective of driving growth and creating sustainable value in our communities,” says Bonga Sebesho, Group Head of Sponsorships at Standard Bank.
Liberty, is an equally proud partner of the tour, and believes in its continued drive to uplift the communities of the Cape Peninsula, where the tour takes place.
“As an organisation that embodies humanity in all that it does, Liberty sees this as an opportunity to be “InItWith” all the cyclists who will be participating in the race, as well as the communities that will benefit from this incredible initiative. Moreover, we recognise the alignment in terms of the commitment to supporting the well-being of the communities,” says, Marees Bostander, Head of Brand Strategy and Sponsorships at Liberty.
The Cape Town Cycle Tour, a highly anticipated event on the South African sporting calendar, is far more than a cycling event. With millions of rands ploughed back into communities across Cape Town, the tour heralds an opportunity for every level of cyclist to enjoy a competitive, or social, tour of the beautiful City of Cape Town, whilst investing in the upliftment of surrounding communities.
The 2025 Cape Town Cycle Tour presented by Standard Bank and Liberty will take place on Sunday, 9 March. General entries for both the 109km and 42km distances will open on Wednesday, 23 October 2024.
