By Press Office · 687 comments

Cycling South Africa takes note of the sanction of 11 months period of ineligibility imposed by the UCI against Ms. Yolande de Villiers for the presence of the prohibited substances hydrochlorothiazide and amilorid (diuretic) found in three samples collected from the rider on 31 January, 28 February and 21 March 2015.

Cycling South Africa will not make any further comment on the case.

Think about about production controls around generics. Maybe there's something interesting to discover there.

Its easy to take the moral high high ground when approaching the problem with only what is presented in front of you.

Then don't take generics.

I am loving these threads....and though I have no sympathy for voters....let's see what the moral high horse commenters have to say about themselves.....how clean are you Mr. Amatuer...you are not a pro but you are a cyclists and if you are doing events with a license then you open to be tested and liable for your own actions...or perhaps a UCI event like Epiek (ask Baaisiklist)....it is Friday after all.....

thats why i only do the argus as it is not sanctioned by the uci.

TUE is not only for when you sick, I applied for TUE for Ritalin and got it. I checked the list and googled what to do, pretty straight forward, even my ancient GP new what was was cooking.

Wish these whiners would just put some big boy pants on and stop with the excuses...

WHAT? You were granted a TUE? Thought nobody gets one.....

Kalmeer boet....they have to play it safe....if they gave her another year the feminist organisations would have gone ballistic....and in the current sensitiveonomic state of South Africa....it could be seen as being chauvinistic as well as women abuse.....

Hey listen seeing as we are on the subject. . At what age do teens have to apply for TUE's?

I have an asthmatic son..he is now in high school and he hasn't needed to take the chronic meds in a long time but when winter cones round and he gets chesty he sometimes has to use his pump?

He had permission to race... but lets not derail this thread. I'll go start a Friday one now now :)

Of course, he was so sick he had just beaten the World Champion in the TT.....then needed a TUE for the next stage.

Ok enough, back on topic. Sorry for the distraction.

If you are using an inhaler and taking part in a sanctioned event, need a TUE, GP should fill out the forms for you quick sticks.

*My brother used one and needed a TUE for his chronic asthma and needed one. May not all be the same, it will be part of the TUE process, checking whats in it etc. His was a steriod based one.*

Watch the next press release from the epic...it starts like this..

Given the recent ban for Yolande de de Villiers and after studying the case .. we have decided that it was unintentionally and the reference Ms de Villiers will be allowed to participate I the Cape Epic..

depending on the medication he may not need a TUE. Seretide (corticosteriod based) is exempt as long as the doses are as prescribed.
