During and directly after the Covid-19 pandemic, demand and interest in cycling surged. Activity in the Bike Hub marketplace has since stabilised, and we\u2019re now starting to see clear seasonal patterns and shifts across categories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-36b76a73-8ded-44d4-8559-b4951ac8a33e\">Here&#8217;s what we found in the third quarter of 2025:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Marketplace Activity Continues to Grow<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-b0abbbbc-5fa1-40b3-a9e0-4c400bf97176\">Enquiries across all categories are <strong>up 20.5%<\/strong> year-on-year in Q3 2025 compared with Q3 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-4496ae8c-67f8-415d-bca3-063868740bd8\">Enquiries (responses to ads) are not a direct measure of sales, but we view them as an indicator of demand. id=\"block-2f6a1933-e21e-4ce1-b6e1-80d47395df4f\">Enquiries by Bicycle Category<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Enquiries by Bicycle Category is a useful view for tracking seasonal fluctuations in demand per discipline, and can also be used as a proxy for overall market share per category.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Q3 2025:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Road bike share of enquiries rose by 1% with the start of spring.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dual suspension mountain bikes slipped by 0.5%.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Gravel continued its growth trajectory, albeit modestly, up from 6.9% to 7.2%.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>E-bike enquiries increased by 0.5%.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Triathlon and time trial bikes fell by 0.6% to 2.3% of total enquiries.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure id=\"block-22be3201-2cc0-4578-b575-9e539897e541\">Gravel Continues to Climb<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-f60ae9b9-0f11-4826-85d0-4cba6bb45d0f\">Enquiries on Gravel Bikes have <strong>jumped 52.7%<\/strong> year-on-year. They&#8217;re also <strong>up 9.6%<\/strong> on Q2. This segment has long been the backbone of South African cycling, and this growth is a positive indicator of market health. This category shows the clearest seasonal patterns, with a consistent spike in Q1 (New Year&#8217;s resolutions?
