Celebrate the start of March 2024 with a 100-mile journey into the breathtaking Sneeuberg mountain range, where you can expect spectacular views of the surrounding mountains, spritely wildlife, unique indigenous plantlife, nostalgic Karoo windpump scenes, refreshing waterpoint stops, and a halfway stop at the enchanting little town of Nieu-Bethesda. The 100miler and 50miler routes start and end at Dwarsvlei farm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

100miler participants will start the day with a cup or two of freshly brewed condensed milk coffee and a homemade rusk, followed by a delicious breakfast to fuel you for your day out in the Karoo. With a ring of the Bell, riders head towards the first water point at Twiskraal for refreshments and gradually ascend towards Compassberg for a very welcome water point stop before heading on a relaxing downhill towards the happy little town of Nieu-Bethesda for the third water point staffed by friendly locals and heavily stocked with yummy treats and Aunt Evelyn famous ginger beer to put a spring in your step for the stretch home. Heading out of the little village towards Dwarsvlei, you will enter the Sneeuberg & Bergplaas Nature Reserve. Here you can spot numerous varieties of wildlife like eland, kudus, wildebeest and zebras en route homebound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 50 miler group will start in a similar fashion of a java and rusk pre-snack with breakfast and a brisk cycle in the same direction as the 100miler group and gradually splitting off towards the Twiskraal homestead and along a big glistening dam into a game camp filled with wildlife, beautiful Karoo scenes and a welcoming second waterpoint stop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Crossing the finish line with the finisher souvenir and free beer in hand, you should pop into the big round Karoo pool\/dam and wash off the first layer of hard-earned sweat before heading off to a piping hot shower powered by an old-school donkey(Wood fired geyser) which has no reliance electricity. Lunch will be a big delicious vetkoek and mince, which you can grab and enjoy in a lounging position in the various chill zones or seating areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The day ends with brilliant live music, a delicious supper, and prize-giving awarding winners and a few happy individuals who embrace the relaxed spirit of the event and unconventional prize categories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All entrants receive a Kakiebos merchandise kit to the value of R500, and Early Bird entrants also receive a Karoo-inspired design, Cycling Jersey! Early Bird entries close on 31 July 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LIVE ENTERTAINMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Expect brilliant live entertainment on Saturday to further set the mood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each rider receives a goody bag at registration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WELL DESIGNED ROUTE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Riders get to enjoy an exclusively designed route. Some sections are only allowed to be used during the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TENTED ACCOMMODATION<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

2-Nights Standard Canvas tented accommodation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

HANDMADE KAROO MEDAL<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each finisher receives a unique handmade Karoo medal made by local artists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ALL MEALS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

All meals from Friday dinner to Saturday dinner are included. Friday lunch can be purchased between 12:00-15:00. Sunday breaky buns can be purchased between 06:30-08:00.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The well-equipped event village includes a bar station, a rider chill zone and ample Karoo open spaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enjoy piping hot showers at Dwarsvlei. Remember you\u2019re in the Karoo so please use water sparingly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EN ROUTE SUPPORT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Staffed water points serving everything from water to koeksisters! Backup vehicle to assist should you not be able to ride any further.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TIMING – BY MOBII<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

All riders will receive a timing chip to track their time for the 100 or 50 miler distance. Live results will be available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
