{"id":22356,"date":"2012-04-13T06:55:00","date_gmt":"2012-04-13T05:55:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bikehub.co.za\/news\/parlotones-take-joberg2c-on-musical-journey-r138\/"},"modified":"2023-02-08T12:40:51","modified_gmt":"2023-02-08T12:40:51","slug":"parlotones-take-joberg2c-on-musical-journey-r138","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bikehub.co.za\/news\/parlotones-take-joberg2c-on-musical-journey-r138\/","title":{"rendered":"Parlotones take joBerg2c on musical journey"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>South Africa\u2019s biggest rock band will take fans of the country\u2019s longest paired mountain bike race on a musical journey set to the soundtrack of its soon to be released new album.<\/p>\n<p>The Parlotones have granted organisers of the Old Mutual joBerg2c the right to use songs from <em>Journey Through the Shadows <\/em>in their daily television coverage before its international release on May 8.<\/p>\n<p>The third edition of the event starts in Heidelberg in Gauteng on April 27, finishing at Scottburgh in KwaZulu-Natal nine days later.<\/p>\n<p>According to the CEO of Sovereign Entertainment and band manager Raphael Domalik, it will be the first time that the public will get to hear the full album, in the form of daily instalments.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image\" href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-2-0-97102300-1334301285.jpg\" data-fileid=\"105987\" data-fileext=\"jpg\" rel=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-fileid=\"105987\" class=\"ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed\" alt=\"The Parlotones.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-2-0-97102300-1334301285.jpg\" title=\"\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#696969\"><span style=\"font-size:12px\"><em>The Parlotones have granted the Old Mutual joBerg2c mountain bike race the right to use tracks from their soon to be released album, Journey Through the Shadows, for the event\u2019s daily television production. Photo: Supplied<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Domalik said The Parlotones\u2019 fourth official studio album fitted seamlessly with the feel of the 910-kilometre race, which is billed by organisers as a \u201cjourney of the soul\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe inspiration behind the album is the journey of life,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are many parallels but the most obvious is that the race, like life, is filled with dreams, hope, pain, disappointments, commitment, challenges and, most importantly, achievement and the will to strive for glory.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Domalik said the band enjoyed participating in intelligent campaigns, such as this, where the music and the brand complemented each other.<\/p>\n<p>Echoing his sentiments, organiser Craig Wapnick expressed his delight at The Parlotones\u2019 willingness to be part of the race. \u201cThey really suit our profile as a world-class South African event.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Domalik said the organisers\u2019 choice of the track \u201cBrave and Wild\u201d as the official theme song was an excellent one.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a feel-good song about a time you wish would never end; it reflects on great times that will live in our memories forever. Every time they hear it, riders will be taken back to the race and what an amazing experience it was.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said the band members \u2013 Kahn Morbee, Neil Pauw and brothers Glenn and Paul Hodgson \u2013 had new appreciation for endurance events after climbing Mount Kilimanjaro last month to highlight the issue of violence against women.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey feel an amazing sense of achievement and I think that completing this race will give riders that very same feeling, which sets you apart from the crowd.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Domalik said the first single from the album, \u201cSave Your Best Bits for Tomorrow\u201d, was already receiving extensive airplay in South Africa and the United States.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe lead single, which is now going out to drive the release of the album, is \u2018Soul and Body\u2019.
