{"id":22257,"date":"2012-08-03T08:45:00","date_gmt":"2012-08-03T07:45:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bikehub.co.za\/news\/team-fedgroup-itec-connect-gets-set-for-growth-r237\/"},"modified":"2023-02-08T12:38:12","modified_gmt":"2023-02-08T12:38:12","slug":"team-fedgroup-itec-connect-gets-set-for-growth-r237","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bikehub.co.za\/news\/team-fedgroup-itec-connect-gets-set-for-growth-r237\/","title":{"rendered":"Team FedGroup \u2013 Itec Connect gets set for growth"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As it enters its second year, leading South African mountain bike racing team, FedGroup \u2013 Itec Connect, has announced its intention to grow into an even stronger outfit, starting with an extension of the sponsors\u2019 investment and the signing of a new young rider.<\/p>\n<p>Bradley Stroberg officially joined the team on Wednesday 1 August 2012, while FedGroup and Itec Connect have each committed to a further three-year sponsorship of the team. Negotiations are also currently underway to add another top elite male rider to the team for 2013.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image\" href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-2-0-09267200-1343983687.jpg\" data-fileid=\"133330\" data-fileext=\"jpg\" rel=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-fileid=\"133330\" class=\"ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed\" alt=\"itec.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-2-0-09267200-1343983687.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:12px\"><em>Bradley Stroberg has joined Team FedGroup \u2013 Itec Connect as part of the team&#8217;s young rider development plans.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had a good first year with a number of podium places and a top 10 finish at the Cape Epic despite some illness issues in the build-up,\u201d said Brandon Stewart, team owner and rider. \u201cOur sponsors have been fantastic and can see the potential of the team, which is why they have made a firm commitment until 2015.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Stewart explained that the addition of Stroberg to the outfit was part of the team\u2019s focus on supporting young talent.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBrad is relatively new to mountain bike racing, but has shown great potential and commitment already. He comes with excellent credentials from the Toyota CSA Academy team, which is focused on identifying and supporting talented young road racers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe believe Brad has a great future in mountain biking and will ensure he gets all the guidance and support he needs to achieve his potential,\u201d added Stewart.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt 20, Brad is reasonably new to cycling, but he\u2019s already shown plenty of raw talent and leadership qualities,\u201d said Nic White, manager of the Toyota CSA Academy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of the key functions of our academy is to prepare talented young bicycle racers for career progression with established professional teams. We\u2019re sad to lose Brad so soon, but will still have him ride for us in some road races when his schedule allows.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Stroberg, who lives in Pietermaritzburg, a mountain bike racing hotbed, is geographically well situated as Team FedGroup Itec \u2013 Connect is also based there.
