{"id":22236,"date":"2012-08-24T08:15:00","date_gmt":"2012-08-24T07:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bikehub.co.za\/news\/us-riders-come-up-trumps-at-uwct-final-time-trial-r258\/"},"modified":"2023-02-08T12:37:40","modified_gmt":"2023-02-08T12:37:40","slug":"us-riders-come-up-trumps-at-uwct-final-time-trial-r258","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bikehub.co.za\/news\/us-riders-come-up-trumps-at-uwct-final-time-trial-r258\/","title":{"rendered":"US Riders Come Up Trumps at UWCT Final Time Trial"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>American time trial stars stole the show at the start of the UCI World Cycling Tour Final at Wartburg outside Pietermaritzburg winning five of the seventeen gold medals on offer, with three local riders also clinching coveted UCI jerseys that are presented to the new amateur world champions.<\/p>\n<p>USA stars Richard &#8220;Ringo&#8221; Feldman from Ketchum, Idaho won his seventh masters world title and showed his class and experience as he posted the fastest time overall en route to winning the title in the men&#8217;s 40-45 year age category, racing in cool clear weather over the 26km course with a steady breeze playing a role in the racing.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image\" href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-2-0-80292800-1345796075.jpg\" data-fileid=\"138873\" data-fileext=\"jpg\" rel=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-fileid=\"138873\" class=\"ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed\" alt=\"uwct1.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-2-0-80292800-1345796075.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:12px\"><span style=\"color:#696969\"><em>US time trial specialist Richard Feldman was the fastest man at the UCI World Cycling Tour Final time trials at Wartburg on Thursday. &#8220;There is nothing higher than the world champs and the pride of wearing a world champions jersey that you have earned is always something to remember,&#8221; he said \u00a9 Anthony Grote\/Gameplan Media<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>His 33 minutes 26 seconds time was almost two minutes faster than any other time posted on the day, underscoring his strength and experience in the time trial.<\/p>\n<p>He dedicated the win to his mother-in-law who has just passed away. Feldman will be head straight back to the airport to be able to attend her funeral.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEach win is special and to defend a championship is always great,\u201d said Feldman. \u201cThe first one is always tremendous but then to come back and renew it is always a treat because come January the 1st every year you have to wipe the slate clean and rewrite history. It&#8217;s tremendous to come to Africa and great to be able to race elsewhere in the world outside of Europe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image\" href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-2-0-23212800-1345796075.jpg\" data-fileid=\"138872\" data-fileext=\"jpg\" rel=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-fileid=\"138872\" class=\"ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed\" alt=\"uwct2.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-2-0-23212800-1345796075.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#696969\"><span style=\"font-size:12px\"><em>Berkeley professor Molly van Houweling won her world title comprehensively at the UCI World Cycling Tour Final time trials at Wartburg on Thursday \u00a9 Anthony Grote\/Gameplan Media<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Berkeley professor Molly van Houweling added another gold to the US swag in the women&#8217;s 35-39 category, and posted the fastest women&#8217;s time, one of only two women&#8217;s to break the 40-minute barrier into the time trial.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA lot of preparation has gone into this at home \u2013 it has been the focus of my season.
