Former Springbok fly half Joel Stransky is recuperating at home after surgery to his broken collarbone and is determined to ride his 6th Epic race for team Liqui-Fruit. Stransky had a bad fall on Wednesday while training for the Absa Cape Epic mountain bike race due to take place from 15 to 22 March.<\/p>\n

Stransky\u2019s surgeon says the prognosis is positive that he will be able to compete. \u201cJoel will be able to train on a stationary bike from next week and he will be ready to train outdoors again in about 5 weeks. His resilience, long training hours already behind him and the fact that he has already completed five Absa Cape Epic Races, will stand him in good stead\u201d.<\/p>\n

His Liqui-Fruit team mate, road race champion Anri\u00ebtte Schoeman in the mixed category, says Stransky\u2019s determination is inspiring. \u201cHe always embraces challenge and I\u2019m excited to ride with him. I wish him a speedy recovery, this man is as tough as nails! Knowing Joel, he\u2019ll be back in the saddle soon\u201d.<\/p>\n

Stransky\u2019s sponsor Liqui-Fruit, has also joined his supporters in wishing him a speedy recovery.
