The stage ended with a tense sprint finish between Reid and his fellow countryman Max Knox. With only one second separating them at the line, Knox, racing for the Dubai based team Revolution Cycles, now moves up to second place in the Open Male classification.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<div class=\"w-full aspect-video\">\n<div><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"200\" height=\"113\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/akuSBA75sN4?feature=oembed\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>In the Open Female Category, Great Britain\u2019s Catherine Williamson won the day\u2019s racing ahead of yesterday\u2019s winner Eszter Dosa (HUN). Williamson has now moved into the overall lead, just four seconds ahead of Dosa.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image\" href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-51741200-1422732743.jpg\" data-fileid=\"478677\" data-fileext=\"jpg\" rel=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-fileid=\"478677\" class=\"ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed\" alt=\"ccs-62657-0-51741200-1422732743.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-51741200-1422732743.jpg\" title=\"\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic hopeful, James Reid, who is making his Trans Hajar debut and competing for the first time as a member of Team RECM, enjoyed some close wheel to wheel racing today,<\/p>\n<div class=\"pullquote\">\n\u201cWe pulled together a group of about five guys right towards the end and then Max jumped at the finish. I managed to sit on his wheel and close him at the end; it was a good and proper race with no holding back and I\u2019m sure it won\u2019t be any different tomorrow\u201d.\n<\/div>\n<p><a class=\"ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image\" href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-03718600-1422732741.jpg\" data-fileid=\"478676\" data-fileext=\"jpg\" rel=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-fileid=\"478676\" class=\"ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed\" alt=\"ccs-62657-0-03718600-1422732741.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-03718600-1422732741.jpg\" title=\"\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Former Cape Epic winner, Catherine Williamson, will go into the third day of racing as the overall leader in the Open Female Classification; she had a challenging day out in the mountains,<\/p>\n<div class=\"pullquote\">\n\u201cI\u2019m absolutely exhausted &#8211; mentally as well as physically. It was a really hard day out there. There\u2019s a really nice atmosphere \u2013 it\u2019s amazing where we are and everyone\u2019s so friendly out here\u201d.\n<\/div>\n<p><a class=\"ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image\" href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-52109100-1422732745.jpg\" data-fileid=\"478678\" data-fileext=\"jpg\" rel=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-fileid=\"478678\" class=\"ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed\" alt=\"ccs-62657-0-52109100-1422732745.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-52109100-1422732745.jpg\" title=\"\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s route was the longest and toughest of this multi-day stage race totalling a staggering 127km, and as temperatures reached 30 degrees Celsius competitors pushed themselves to the limit in the hot and dusty conditions. With a remote start, the stage began at the top of a 2,010m peak taking riders down the highest mountain pass in Oman.
