More than 10% of foreign tourists come to South Africa to watch or participate in sport events, with spectators accounting for 60% to 80% of these arrivals. Cape Town is a sports lover’s paradise with an exquisite natural terrain and a strong industry making it the go-to place for top annual events. Our city also offers world-class venues and supporting infrastructure, and South Africans’ passion for sport combine to make Cape Town a huge draw card for World Triathlon Series fans.”

Participants have the option to enter either the Sprint or Olympic distance and para-triathletes (PT2 – PT5) can enter the Sprint event. Team relays for both distances are also on the schedule The Sprint distance includes a 500m swim, a 20km cycle and a 5km run. The Olympic distance includes a 1 500m swim, a 40km cycle and a 10km run.
