Photo: Full Stop Communications<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Former masters world cross-country champion Pfitzenmaier (Dorma) also showed his sportsmanship when runner-up Dylan Rebello (Jeep) slipped in the finishing straight of the 58km final stage at Thesen Harbour Town.<\/p>\n<p>The Cape Town-based rider waited for his local rival to right himself before the two crossed the line together to give Pfitzenmaier his second stage win.<\/p>\n<p>The German-born champ, who won the team category last year with Renay Groustra, said he was delighted to have followed it up with the solo title.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image\" href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-00375500-1434377168.jpg\" data-fileid=\"548522\" data-fileext=\"jpg\" rel=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-fileid=\"548522\" class=\"ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed\" alt=\"ccs-62657-0-00375500-1434377168.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-00375500-1434377168.jpg\" title=\"\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"italic text-sm text-slate-500 block mt-1 mb-4\">Nico Pfitzenmaier (right) celebrates his overall solo category win on day three of the RECM Knysna 200 mountain bike race on Monday. Photo: Full Stop Communications<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Kachelhoffer, who recently relocated to George, said the trails and atmosphere had been top notch.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think a lot more pro riders will come to race this one after seeing James Reid and I fight it out for king of the mountains yesterday. It\u2019s exciting racing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite lingering health concerns, three-time South African marathon champion De Groot (Ascendis Health) kept it together to secure an uncontested win in the women\u2019s category.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s the first time I\u2019ve done this race but it\u2019s definitely one to add to the calendar,\u201d said De Groot, who divides her time between Johannesburg and the Garden Route town of George.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was harder than I expected but a real treat. Photo: Full Stop Communications.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Merrell Ladies\u2019 pairing of Nicola Giliomee and Marleen Lourens won the women\u2019s team category, while their mixed teammates Andrea and Steven Shirley were not quite so lucky.<\/p>\n<p>After two stage wins, the husband-and-wife team lost their overall lead on the final day, gifting SasolRacing\u2019s Yolande and Henties de Villiers the mixed race title.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were just here to enjoy ourselves, so this win is fantastic,\u201d said Yolande, who also won the Ultimate Queen hill climb up to Krisjan se Nek on stage two.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a privilege to be able to share it with my husband, who is usually behind the scenes.
