{"id":19717,"date":"2015-07-06T08:20:00","date_gmt":"2015-07-06T07:20:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bikehub.co.za\/news\/2015\/07\/06\/great-racing-wraps-up-season-logs-for-sa-xco-and-dhi-r2927\/"},"modified":"2023-02-08T14:25:11","modified_gmt":"2023-02-08T14:25:11","slug":"great-racing-wraps-up-season-logs-for-sa-xco-and-dhi-r2927","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bikehub.co.za\/news\/great-racing-wraps-up-season-logs-for-sa-xco-and-dhi-r2927\/","title":{"rendered":"Great racing wraps up season logs for SA XCO and DHI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The fourth and final rounds of both the XCO and DHI 2015 SA MTB Cup Series took place at Cascades MTB Park, Pietermariztburg from 27-28 June and both events made for some surprising and impressive results in the final races, and even more thrilling points logs.<\/p>\n<p>Stihl 2015 SA MTB Cup Series Results Co-ordinator, Grevile Ruddock, mentioned that the final round was a well-organised event, which produced great racing and close results in many categories.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image\" href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-32641300-1436170516-1.jpg\" data-fileid=\"559444\" data-fileext=\"jpg\" rel=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-fileid=\"559444\" class=\"ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed\" alt=\"ccs-62657-0-32641300-1436170516.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-32641300-1436170516-1.jpg\" title=\"\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"italic text-sm text-slate-500 block mt-1 mb-4\">Alan Hatherly (Kargo Pro MTB Team) whose results after four rounds placed him at the top of the Elite Men&#8217;s XCO log in the 2015 Stihl SA MTB Cup Series. Gavin Ryan\/QuickPix Photography<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis was also the final opportunity for riders to either push themselves up the final rankings, or to seal their series positions with a consistent final race,\u201d said Ruddock. \u201cThat was well done by many of the series winners in their categories. While there are many excellent final results for the season, perhaps most noteworthy are those of Alan Hatherly securing the Elite Men in his first season in the Pro-Elite group, and the consistently improving Cherie Vale with her overall win in the Elite Women.\u201d<\/p>\n<div style=\"\">\n<a class=\"ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image\" href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-19270600-1436170527-1.jpg\" data-fileid=\"559445\" data-fileext=\"jpg\" rel=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-fileid=\"559445\" class=\"ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed\" alt=\"ccs-62657-0-19270600-1436170527.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-19270600-1436170527-1.jpg\" title=\"\"><\/a><span class=\"italic text-sm text-slate-500 block mt-1 mb-4\">Cherie Vale (Novus OMX Pro Team) claimed the overall Women&#8217;s Elite XCO win in the 2015 Stihl SA MTB Cup Series. Gavin Ryan\/QuickPix Photography<\/span>\n<\/div>\n<p>Hatherly, although coming second on the day to Team Full Dynamix\u2019s Rourke Croeser, landed himself on the top of the series log with 505 points (4th, 6th, 1st, 2nd), just ahead of Scott Factory Racing (powered by LCB)\u2019s Philip Buys with 500 points (1st, 3rd, 3rd) who only competed in three events.<\/p>\n<p>Vale (Novus OMX Pro Team) managed to top the Elite Women\u2019s log with 520 points (2nd, 5th, 3rd, 1st), ahead of Candice Neethling (Freewheel Cycology\/Pam Golding on 505 after competing in three events (1st, 4th, 2nd).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA series-long challenge in the Junior Men category between Tristan de Lange of Namibia and SA\u2019s Julian Jessop, ended with Tristan pipping Julian through his early season results. Junior Women\u2019s winner, Frankie du Toit, was riding lap times close to the top Elite Women and, although she and Genevieve van Coller ended on the same points tally, Frankie tied up the series by winning the final race,\u201d confirmed Ruddock.<\/p>\n<p>The Downhill event the next day saw KwaZulu-Natal local, Tiaan Odendaal, at the top of the log after a successful and very consistent season of racing so far. Odendaal ended the Cup Series with a points score of 713. Behind him, were the very talented rising star brothers, Christopher (465) and Jonathan Philogene (460).<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image\" href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-77362000-1436170509-1.jpg\" data-fileid=\"559442\" data-fileext=\"jpg\" rel=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-fileid=\"559442\" class=\"ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed\" alt=\"ccs-62657-0-77362000-1436170509.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-77362000-1436170509-1.jpg\" title=\"\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"italic text-sm text-slate-500 block mt-1 mb-4\">Tiaan Odendaal, who after four rounds, topped the Elite Men&#8217;s DHI log in the 2015 Stihl SA MTB Cup Series.
