<\/a><\/p>\nParel Vallei High School is leading the mixed and women\u2019s logs with 983 and 401 points respectively and lying second in the men\u2019s category with 582 points. Paul Roos has dominated the men\u2019s category on regional and national level and has a comfortable lead with an impressive 744 points.<\/p>\n
DF Malan High Schools has also established itself as a strong contender in the league and holds the second place in the mixed and men\u2019s teams with 613 and 403 points respectively and is third in the women\u2019s category with 210 points.<\/p>\n
Over the past seven years, the league has logged an average 45% year-on-year growth and has successfully increased the footprint of youth MTB cycling in Southern Africa. Various rider development programmes have been implemented successfully and numerous mountain bike tracks are being built in association with regional municipalities, schools and land owners.<\/p>\n
\u201cOne of the major developments since the inception on the league in 2009 is the shift to racing on school grounds. Developing these tracks at schools not only brings the racing to the kids, but more importantly places the sport right in the middle of the traditional and mainstream field\/court sports. This gives mountain biking greater exposure, relevance and credibility. In 2015, that ratio will be more than 50%,\u201d states Botha.<\/p>\n According to Botha the 3,2km track at Montana features meandering single track sections in and around the Worcester Dam bird sanctuary site. \u201cBecause the terrain is fairly flat there are several grade reversals to maximise the total elevation of the lap. The proximity of the route to the school grounds make it the perfect site for a schools race track.
