This year the PPA established an office in Bloemfontein committing to offer local cyclists the opportunity to participate in a seeding event leading up to the 2016 Cape Town Cycle Tour. Sponsored by the Manaung Municipality, the event is expected to grow in stature going forward.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are hoping to not only attract the local Free State riders but cyclists across the country,\u201d says PPA chairman Steven Hayward.  \u201cWe will be hosting various off-road events on Saturday 31 October and the prestigious road event on Sunday 01 November. This year\u2019s event will once again be aimed at the recreational rider but local professional riders are most welcome to participate in the race,\u201d Hayward explained.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image\" href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-75538500-1440759634.jpg\" data-fileid=\"588583\" data-fileext=\"jpg\" rel=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-fileid=\"588583\" class=\"ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed\" alt=\"ccs-62657-0-75538500-1440759634.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-75538500-1440759634.jpg\" title=\"\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>No prize money will be given this year and any profits from the event will be ploughed back into cycling-related projects in the Free State and will be managed by the local PPA office in Bloemfontein.<\/p>\n<p>Participants can enter one of two distances: 106 km route (which will be the 2016 Cape Town Cycle Tour seeding distance), or a shorter 30 km route. Entry fees are respectively R250 for the 106 km route (R220 for PPA members) and R160 for the 30 km route (R130 for PPA members).<\/p>\n<p>Entries are now open. Online entries will remain open until Monday 19 October 20 at 23h00.
