{"id":19176,"date":"2015-10-12T09:50:00","date_gmt":"2015-10-12T08:50:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bikehub.co.za\/news\/2015\/10\/12\/dodd-crowned-sa-bmx-champ-for-third-year-running-r3647\/"},"modified":"2023-02-08T09:12:15","modified_gmt":"2023-02-08T09:12:15","slug":"dodd-crowned-sa-bmx-champ-for-third-year-running-r3647","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bikehub.co.za\/news\/dodd-crowned-sa-bmx-champ-for-third-year-running-r3647\/","title":{"rendered":"Dodd crowned SA BMX Champ for third year running"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 2015 South African National BMX Championships saw elite men\u2019s shining star Kyle Dodd confirm his wrist injury woes are finally a thing of the past and his quest to compete at the 2016 Olympic Games remains on track after he successfully defended his national title at his home club, Alrode BMX Club in Alberton, Gauteng despite a strong challenge from a flying Alex Limberg.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image\" href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-43633800-1444643324.jpg\" data-fileid=\"612455\" data-fileext=\"jpg\" rel=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-fileid=\"612455\" class=\"ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed\" alt=\"ccs-62657-0-43633800-1444643324.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-43633800-1444643324.jpg\"><\/a><span class=\"italic text-sm text-slate-500 block mt-1 mb-4\">Jeep Team&#8217;s Kyle Dodd claimed his third consecutive elite men&#8217;s national title when he overcame the rest of the field at the South African National BMX Championships at Alrode BMX Club, Alberton \u00a9 Darren Goddard<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Dodd suffered a crippling wrist injury in April and after many months of rehabilitation the young star signalled his return to action in emphatic fashion on Sunday as he charged to his third successive elite men\u2019s national title.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt really, really feels good to have defended my national title!\u201d beamed the Jeep Team rider. \u201cThe last little while has been quite a difficult time and it is great to finally be back!<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOf my three titles this is probably the sweetest one yet because Alex (Limberg) really made me work hard for this one while it is also a huge confidence boost to get the \u2018W\u2019 after my injury layoff!\u201d added Dodd.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image\" href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-91878300-1444643324.jpg\" data-fileid=\"612456\" data-fileext=\"jpg\" rel=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-fileid=\"612456\" class=\"ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed\" alt=\"ccs-62657-0-91878300-1444643324.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-91878300-1444643324.jpg\"><\/a><span class=\"italic text-sm text-slate-500 block mt-1 mb-4\">Lauren Coetzee was in a league of her own when she powered to victory in the 15 Years &amp; Older Girls tussle at the South African National BMX Championships at Alrode BMX Club, Alberton \u00a9 Darren Goddard<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Dodd started the day positively with victory in the first of three motos however a determined Limberg then edged out his fellow clubman in the second and third moto to setup a mouth watering prospective finale.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was such a stressful day for me,\u201d explained Dodd. \u201cI knew Alex would be quick because he has been flying all weekend but I thought I\u2019d still be able to find a way around him in the motos.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe had an amazing start in both of the last two motos and good track speed though and there was just no way around him.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image\" href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-33872300-1444643325.jpg\" data-fileid=\"612457\" data-fileext=\"jpg\" rel=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-fileid=\"612457\" class=\"ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed\" alt=\"ccs-62657-0-33872300-1444643325.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-33872300-1444643325.jpg\"><\/a><span class=\"italic text-sm text-slate-500 block mt-1 mb-4\">Alex Dolman in action as he claims victory in the 15 Years Boys clash at the South African National BMX Championships at Alrode BMX Club, Alberton \u00a9 Darren Goddard<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cGoing into the break before the final I was quite stressed as I knew the final was going to come down to whoever got into that first corner first!<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFortunately it all worked out for me in the end though and thankfully I was able to get the win!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While many eyes were on the fascinating elite men\u2019s showdown, especially as the battle for vital UCI points heats up ahead Rio 2016, the country\u2019s next generation of emerging young stars also went head to head at Alrode on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image\" href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-96012700-1444643325.jpg\" data-fileid=\"612458\" data-fileext=\"jpg\" rel=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-fileid=\"612458\" class=\"ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed\" alt=\"ccs-62657-0-96012700-1444643325.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-96012700-1444643325.jpg\"><\/a><span class=\"italic text-sm text-slate-500 block mt-1 mb-4\">Dylan Eggar rewrote the South African BMX history books when he claimed his eleventh consecutive national title by winning the 16 Years Boys clash at the South African National BMX Championships at Alrode BMX Club, Alberton \u00a9 Darren Goddard<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The standout performer amongst the nation\u2019s next generation of stars was 16 Years Boys flyer Dylan Eggar who rewrote the history books when he charged to a national record eleventh consecutive South African title.<\/p>\n<p>The world number seven\u2019s remarkable ability is underlined by the fact that his most recent title now sees him one go one better than the likes of Dodd himself as well as High Performance coach Jonathan Chislett with whom Eggar shared the honour with previously.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image\" href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-46601500-1444643326.jpg\" data-fileid=\"612459\" data-fileext=\"jpg\" rel=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-fileid=\"612459\" class=\"ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed\" alt=\"ccs-62657-0-46601500-1444643326.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-46601500-1444643326.jpg\"><\/a><span class=\"italic text-sm text-slate-500 block mt-1 mb-4\">Kita Uys was in sublime form as she claimed the national title in the 9-12 Years Girls crown at the South African National BMX Championships at Alrode BMX Club, Alberton \u00a9 Darren Goddard<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Connor Terblanche was another to reiterate just why he is ranked fifth in the world in his age group as he charged to victory in the 13 Years Boys clash while the fairer gender\u2019s spoils went to Kyla Uys (8 Years &amp;
