Last year, Momentum brought Vos to Johannesburg to race in the Cycle Challenge along with Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio, South Africa’s international cycling champion. Vos and Moolman-Pasio took 1st and 2nd places respectively in the 2014 Cycle Challenge women’s race.

“We are thrilled that Marianne enjoyed her experience with us last year and that she is coming back in 2015 to welcome the racing women’s teams to the event,” said Momentum head of sponsorships, Carel Bosman.

Cycling SA has shown their full support for the ranking of the event by stepping in to assist the teams with rider accommodation and logistics. The UCI’s World Cycling Centre in Africa has also hosted a women’s only training camp for African riders leading up to the event.

The awarding of the UCI 1.1 ranking for the ladies, adds a new level of excitement to the race, now in its 19th year and organizers are proud of the opportunity this affords the ladies and the contribution this makes to women’s cycling. Besides adding this opportunity and a level of prestige to the race, we are also heartened that the Cycle Challenge is one of a few cycling events that offers female racers their own peloton and equal prize-money to the men.

The Momentum 947 Cycle Challenge together with Cycling South Africa is delighted to announce that the 2015 race will be hosting three international women’s teams, top local women’s teams and composite invitational teams from across Africa.
