The fact that it’s a two day event for solo riders makes it unique. Another exciting feature is that riders are encouraged not to race. As a result fun riders will get to ride with the likes of Ariane Kleinhans, James Reid, Erik Kleinhans and Waylon Woolcock, to name just a few.”

I am really looking forward to riding with the academy riders, continues Dobinson. “Four out of six of our riders will be taking part. The two days will be viewed as training rides and we’ll be riding together as a celebration of life and health. Being able to ride with them is a treat as I usually only get to welcome them in at the end of each race.”

Founded in January this year, the ISUZU MTB Academy is an ISUZU and Stillwater Sports initiative.

Event information: Pennypinchers Origin Of Trails

Stage One: Friday, 27 November 2015

Long Course: +-60km / Elevation 1750m and single track length 23.4km
Short Course: +- 31km / Elevation 850m
Start Time: 07:00 in seeded batch starts, starting with 60km race
Start Venue: Hofmeyer Hall, Church Street, Stellenbosch
Finish Venue: Blaauwklippen, Stellenbosch

Stage Two: Saturday, 28 November 2015

Long Course: +-65km / Elevation 1700m and single track 17.1km
Short Course: +- 34km / Elevation 1000m
Start Time: 07:00 in seeded batch starts, starting with 65km race
Start Venue: Hofmeyer Hall, Church Street, Stellenbosch
Finish Venue: Blaauwklippen Wine Estate, Stellenbosch

Entry Fees:

Option 1: Long (60km and 65km) R1050.00
Option 2: Medium (60km and 34km) R950.00
Option 3: Short (31km and 34km) R850.00

Entrants will receive the following:

a DHL t-shirt (to the first 1200 entrants)

a snap-back peak (to the first 1200 entrants)

a DHL Pennypinchers Origin Of Trails mug

breakfast and lunch on both days

a Fedhealth massage to all finishers

Thule prizes to riders voted “best dressed” over the two days

lucky draws: a R10 000 DueSouth voucher, Craft vouchers and Blaauwklippen Wine

a complimentary Squirt Bike Wash

access to the Cell C Power Zone

a Fedhealth waterbottle

a ProNutro snack-pack

After a fun day out on route, mountain bikers can look forward to either relaxing in the Windhoek Light Bar Area or the ISUZU Chill Zone.

Win a Specialized Bicycle: One lucky Pennypinchers Origin Of Trails entrant will go home with a 2016 Specialized 6 Fattie (Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Comp 6 Fattie for men or a Specialized Rhyme FSR Comp 6 Fattie for women).
