{"id":18631,"date":"2016-03-01T06:55:00","date_gmt":"2016-03-01T06:55:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bikehub.co.za\/news\/2016\/03\/01\/suunto-joins-the-absa-cape-epic-sponsor-family-r4244\/"},"modified":"2023-02-08T08:37:08","modified_gmt":"2023-02-08T08:37:08","slug":"suunto-joins-the-absa-cape-epic-sponsor-family-r4244","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bikehub.co.za\/news\/suunto-joins-the-absa-cape-epic-sponsor-family-r4244\/","title":{"rendered":"Suunto joins the Absa Cape Epic sponsor family"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sports watch giant Suunto has joined the Absa Cape Epic sponsor family as the race\u2019s official watch sponsor, including providing a Suunto activation station at 2016 race villages.<\/p>\n<p>Offering product sales and information, free Suunto watch charging and data downloads as well as service and backup facilities for riders and spectators over the eight days of the race, which starts on 13 March.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are very pleased that Suunto and its world-class products have joined our team,\u201d said Absa Cape Epic CEO Lynn Naud\u00e9. \u201cAs a brand synonymous with conquering new territory, we look forward to working with their team to bring valuable innovations and expertise to our race.\u201d Suunto has signed a three-year agreement, joining a host of other long-term sponsors.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image\" href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-99918300-1456815327.jpg\" data-fileid=\"688585\" data-fileext=\"jpg\" rel=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-fileid=\"688585\" class=\"ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed\" alt=\"ccs-62657-0-99918300-1456815327.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-99918300-1456815327.jpg\" title=\"\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Absa Cape Epic founder Kevin Vermaak \u2013 riding the race for the first time this year \u2013 will be sporting a custom Suunto watch as he takes on the challenge. Suunto is internationally-renowned for manufacturing cutting-edge \u201cwearable tech\u201d \u2013 sports watches, diving instruments, compasses and other precision equipment.<\/p>\n<p>Among many other features, Vermaak will be able to rely on Suunto\u2019s battery life &#8211;  up to 200 hours.
