Prizm\u2122 improves performance and safety by enhancing vision without the compromises of conventional lens tints. Other features include: Sharpening of visual acuity to help riders see more clearly and react faster; and the way in which it enhances  colour recognition to help riders spot what you need to see.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s more of a lens that I use to see on singletrack and way better than a standard lens,\u201d explains Reid. \u201cWhen you\u2019re descending down tricky singletrack with contrasting light, it really illuminates a lot more than what is expected.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Reid\u2019s teammate, Gert Heyns, unfortunately had to withdraw today after aggravated symptoms from a chest infection.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image\" href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-39617900-1458016880.jpg\" data-fileid=\"695917\" data-fileext=\"jpg\" rel=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-fileid=\"695917\" class=\"ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed\" alt=\"ccs-62657-0-39617900-1458016880.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-39617900-1458016880.jpg\" title=\"\"><\/a><span class=\"italic text-sm text-slate-500 block mt-1 mb-4\">Credit: Ewald Sadie\/Cape Epic\/SPORTZPICS<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cGert has got experience at the Epic and if he tells me that the signs aren\u2019t good then they definitely aren\u2019t. When he wasn\u2019t good, he really wasn\u2019t good,\u201d Reid explains. \u201cHealth comes first you have one heart and if you push that you damage your heart. It could\u2019ve been me and he made a very mature call. He\u2019s done enough of these to know when it\u2019s bad,\u201d he said.  <\/p>\n<p>Reid will be allowed to continue solo, wearing the special Outcast Jersey for UCI registered riders. \u201cI will definitely start tomorrow and maybe the next day,\u201d he says. \u201cWe have Continental champs in two weeks, so that now becomes the main focus. There are some of the world\u2019s fastest riders here so it is good training. I\u2019m also learning \u2013 you know \u2013 for future years, what the compounded effect is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image\" href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-30491500-1458016894.jpg\" data-fileid=\"695919\" data-fileext=\"jpg\" rel=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-fileid=\"695919\" class=\"ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed\" alt=\"ccs-62657-0-30491500-1458016894.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-30491500-1458016894.jpg\" title=\"\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will see how far I can go and use it for good prep, I mean even the first two hours with some of those riders was intense. These guys are incredible, just so much power,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The race continues tomorrow with a 93-kilometre loop from Saronsberg including some 2200 metres of climbing. As today it promises to be hot and dusty.
