{"id":18264,"date":"2016-04-26T13:20:00","date_gmt":"2016-04-26T12:20:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bikehub.co.za\/news\/2016\/04\/26\/brand-new-bike-brand-new-attitude-for-strauss-ahead-of-pmb-mtb-festival-r4664\/"},"modified":"2023-02-08T08:20:59","modified_gmt":"2023-02-08T08:20:59","slug":"brand-new-bike-brand-new-attitude-for-strauss-ahead-of-pmb-mtb-festival-r4664","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bikehub.co.za\/news\/brand-new-bike-brand-new-attitude-for-strauss-ahead-of-pmb-mtb-festival-r4664\/","title":{"rendered":"Brand new bike, brand new attitude for Strauss ahead of PMB MTB Festival"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>South Africa\u2019s greatest Elite Cross-country mountain bike warriors will head to KwaZulu-Natal this week to take part in the UCI HC Category event at Cascades MTB Park on Saturday 30 April and included in the line up is 2016 Elite Women\u2019s African Continental MTB XCO Champion, Mariske Strauss.<\/p>\n<p>The all-important race offers valuable UCI points for those taking part, and forms part of the second annual Pietermaritzburg MTB Festival taking place from 30 April \u2013 2 May.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image\" href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-54847800-1461677003.jpg\" data-fileid=\"717890\" data-fileext=\"jpg\" rel=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-fileid=\"717890\" class=\"ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed\" alt=\"ccs-62657-0-54847800-1461677003.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-54847800-1461677003.jpg\" title=\"\"><\/a><span class=\"italic text-sm text-slate-500 block mt-1 mb-4\">2016 Elite Women&#8217;s African Continental MTB XCO Champion, Mariske Strauss (Novus OMX Pro MTB Team), is ready to bring her &#8220;A&#8221; game to the UCI HC Category XCO race at Cascades MTB Park, Pietermaritzburg, on Saturday 30 April. Photo: Andrew McFadden\/BOOGS Photography<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am feeling super, and everything seems to be sorted and raring to go,\u201d said the Novus OMX Pro Team rider. \u201cWe are hopefully getting our new hard tail mountain bikes soon &#8211; they\u2019re being built up as we speak, which is very exciting,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>Strauss says that she will be hitting the province with a brand new bike and a brand new attitude, and hopes for a fabulous race.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m super excited to race again and can\u2019t wait to see what Pietermaritzburg gives me this time,\u201d she said. The always-cheerful Capetonian is positive despite her bad training session at the same venue for a National Cup race last year where she crashed and ended up on crutches before the event. \u201cHopefully I\u2019ll keep everything intact \u2013 it\u2019s almost a year since I raced there last, not that I actually got to the racing part,\u201d she laughed.<\/p>\n<p>Strauss concluded by saying that she will be staying positive and happy ahead of the race, and is crossing her fingers that she stays \u201cin one piece\u201d during the race.<\/p>\n<p>The long weekend is a super time to spend with friends and family alike, taking part in the races or merely supporting loved ones who do.
