{"id":18085,"date":"2016-06-01T18:00:00","date_gmt":"2016-06-01T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bikehub.co.za\/news\/2016\/06\/01\/bsi-steel-dusi2c-back-yard-battle-for-change-a-life-zulus-r4895\/"},"modified":"2023-02-08T08:11:28","modified_gmt":"2023-02-08T08:11:28","slug":"bsi-steel-dusi2c-back-yard-battle-for-change-a-life-zulus-r4895","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bikehub.co.za\/news\/bsi-steel-dusi2c-back-yard-battle-for-change-a-life-zulus-r4895\/","title":{"rendered":"BSi Steel dusi2c back yard battle for Change a Life Zulus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Three RMB Change a Life MTB Academy duos are relishing the opportunity to tackle this year\u2019s BSi Steel dusi2c mountain biker race which takes place from Pietermaritzburg to Durban on 11 and 12 June, as event that flows through their own back yards.<\/p>\n<p>The two-day stage race from KZN\u2019s capital down to the Indian Ocean is one that Valley of a Thousand Hills based academy riders have excelled at since its inception in 2013 but more than that, the event gives the local heroes a rare opportunity to compete in front of their friends and family.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is just so lekker for our guys to be able to race on their own turf in front of the communities they have grown up and live in,\u201d explains academy founder, Martin Dreyer.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image\" href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-63698500-1464804033.jpg\" data-fileid=\"737181\" data-fileext=\"jpg\" rel=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-fileid=\"737181\" class=\"ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed\" alt=\"ccs-62657-0-63698500-1464804033.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-63698500-1464804033.jpg\" title=\"\"><\/a><span class=\"italic text-sm text-slate-500 block mt-1 mb-4\">Three Martin Dreyer&#8217;s RMB Change a Life MTB Academy team are set to enjoy the rare opportunity of racing in front of their family and friends in their own back yard when they take on the 2016 BSi Steel dusi2c on 11 and 12 June. Anthony Grote\/ Gameplan Media<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is no pressure on them from me whatsoever when it comes to racing for positions at the BSi Steel dusi2c; there is enough of that on them from their own family and friends!<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know they\u2019ll give their absolute best and first and foremost they must just go out there and enjoy this incredible experience!\u201d he adds.<\/p>\n<p>With the support of both title sponsors and the race organisers, Dreyer\u2019s charges will look to take in the magic of the two day opportunity as best they can and despite a pairing reshuffle, may well go on to emulate their 2015 efforts that saw them claim second and third place overall behind winners, Team TIB\u2019s Andrew Hill and Chris Wolhuter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA big thanks to BSi Steel for covering one of our entries and to Farmer Glen himself for helping us with another!\u201d says Dreyer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMboneni Ngcobo and Mazwi Smimango will go nicely I\u2019m sure, as too will Sipho Kupiso and Ndumiso Dontso, even though Sipho is still dealing with the after effects of the 36ONE Challenge.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBongumusa Zikhali and young Siyanda Masango make up our third pair and all in all we\u2019re really looking forward to having our guys race through the valley next weekend!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 2016 BSi Steel dusi2c mountain bike race takes place from Camps Drift in Pietermaritzburg to Durban&#8217;s Blue Lagoon on 11 and 12 June.
