The growth of mountain biking events has resulted in specialist transport company Fast & Furious coming on board as logistics partner of the PwC Great Zuurberg Trek.<\/p>\n

Given the popularity of these events in South Africa, they have a long-term view of becoming the preferred transport solution for cyclists, said chief operating officer Grant Fletcher.<\/p>\n

Based in Johannesburg, Fast & Furious have 14 branches around the country that specialise in customised logistic solutions to anywhere in the nation as well as neighbouring states.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are more of a boutique and specialised logistics provider that creates customised solutions for our customers than a generic transport provider,\u201d said Fletcher.<\/p>\n

He said they felt that the company\u2019s mode of operation was a perfect fit for the requirements of a mountain bike race such as the Great Zuurberg Trek.<\/p>\n

A meeting between chief organiser Trevor Hayter and Fast & Furious chief executive officer Jason Lombard led to the partnership being formed, said Fletcher.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe customised and personalised nature of this event is in keeping with our own ethos of not offering a mainstream commoditised service in the logistics sector.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe see this as a long-term arrangement as the development of cycling, and especially mountain bike stage races in South Africa, has become phenomenal in terms of the reach to decision-makers in big business.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis event fits nicely with our strategy of expanding our market presence to key individuals. Its nature gelled well with our own company values and culture.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fletcher said two key members of their management team \u2013 Clifton Christians and Norman Koekemoer \u2013 would be riding in the event.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt gives them a unique perspective as to what is needed by the cyclists and how best to handle the logistical requirements.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said Fast & Furious were looking to create awareness of their brand and capabilities and to expose that to key decision-makers.<\/p>\n
