{"id":17783,"date":"2016-08-04T12:35:00","date_gmt":"2016-08-04T11:35:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bikehub.co.za\/news\/2016\/08\/04\/new-trails-for-sanlam-mtb-early-birders-r5340\/"},"modified":"2023-02-08T07:50:29","modified_gmt":"2023-02-08T07:50:29","slug":"new-trails-for-sanlam-mtb-early-birders-r5340","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bikehub.co.za\/news\/new-trails-for-sanlam-mtb-early-birders-r5340\/","title":{"rendered":"New trails for Sanlam MTB early birders"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An exciting mix of adventure trails awaits riders when the Sanlam MTB Invitational takes place from Rhebokskloof Wine Estate near Paarl on November 19 and 20.<\/p>\n<p>Having completed a survey of the possible route options this week, race director Darren Herbst, from ASG Events, said they were looking forward to creating an interesting challenge for riders.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image\" href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-16616600-1470314331.jpg\" data-fileid=\"775578\" data-fileext=\"jpg\" rel=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-fileid=\"775578\" class=\"ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed\" alt=\"ccs-62657-0-16616600-1470314331.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-16616600-1470314331.jpg\" title=\"\"><\/a><span class=\"italic text-sm text-slate-500 block mt-1 mb-4\">Participants in the Sanlam MTB Invitational at Rhebokskloof Wine Estate near Paarl will have exciting new trails to explore. Photo: BrandBoom<\/span><\/p>\n<p>He said the route scouting for the race, which is co-presented by the City of Drakenstein, also formed the groundwork for creating a series of permanent trails in the area.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe expect this to be the catalyst to develop an area which has plenty of riding options for mountain bikers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To this end, Herbst said they were looking at establishing a mix of single-track and other trails through a number of wine farms.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese will take in the natural terrain and highlight the breath-taking scenery,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have already identified a number of new sections that will be used for the race itself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, those wanting to compete in the Sanlam MTB Invitational still stand a chance to receive a state-of-the-art backpack after the early bird entry offer was extended to Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The extension was agreed to by event partners Scicon after the gift \u2013 a Solargenome Hydracharge backpack \u2013 proved extremely popular.<\/p>\n<p>While anyone can enter the race, which is based on a two-man team format, Herbst said families were encouraged to enter as father and son, mother and son, father and daughter or mother and daughter combinations.<\/p>\n<p>He added that they had teamed up with Cartrip, a company that offers an internet-based platform allowing drivers and passengers to arrange lifts together.<\/p>\n<p>For more info, or to enter, visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sanlammtbinvitational.co.za\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">www.sanlammtbinvitational.co.za<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An exciting mix of adventure trails awaits riders when the Sanlam MTB Invitational takes place from Rhebokskloof Wine Estate near Paarl on November 19 and 20.
