As in the past, this iconic Free State event will be a Premier Seeding Series event for the 2017 Cape Town Cycle Tour. The 2016 PPA Mangaung Cycle Tour takes place in Bloemfontein on Sunday 30 October.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image\" href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-15295300-1472126071.jpg\" data-fileid=\"788799\" data-fileext=\"jpg\" rel=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-fileid=\"788799\" class=\"ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed\" alt=\"ccs-62657-0-15295300-1472126071.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-15295300-1472126071.jpg\" title=\"\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The event should serve as a catalyst to grow cycling in the province,\u201d said PPA CEO Robert Vogel.  \u201cAs in the past, any profits from the event will be ploughed back into projects to develop cycling in the Free State.\u201d Vogel also confirmed that some prize money will be offered this year.<\/p>\n<p>In 2014, the Pedal Power Association, a public benefit organisation committed to promote cycling and the interests of cyclists, heeded a desperate call from local cyclists for assistance after the OFM Classic was cancelled. \u201cPPA took the decision to underwrite any potential shortfall in funding for the event for three years,\u201d Vogel explained. \u201cWe did not want road cyclists to miss out on the opportunity of a local seeding series event.\u201d <\/p>\n<div class=\"grid grid-cols-12 gap-4\">\n<div class=\"col-span-6\">\n<a class=\"ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image\" href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-94047700-1472126071.jpg\" data-fileid=\"788801\" data-fileext=\"jpg\" rel=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-fileid=\"788801\" class=\"ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed\" alt=\"ccs-62657-0-94047700-1472126071.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-94047700-1472126071.jpg\" title=\"\"><\/a>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-span-6\">\n<a class=\"ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image\" href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-58986100-1472126071.jpg\" data-fileid=\"788800\" data-fileext=\"jpg\" rel=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-fileid=\"788800\" class=\"ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed\" alt=\"ccs-62657-0-58986100-1472126071.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-58986100-1472126071.jpg\" title=\"\"><\/a>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Participants can enter one of two distances, a 103 km route (which will be used as seeding for the 2017 Cape Town Cycle Tour), or a shorter 32 km route. Both routes incorporate new sections, with the start\/finish moving to the Tempe Military Base. As in the past, the routes are primarily flat, with a few short climbs.<\/p>\n<p>2016 will also boast a bigger Expo, which will be run in conjunction with registration on Friday 28 and Saturday 29 October.<\/p>\n<p>Off-road enthusiasts and cyclists wishing to make a weekend of it are invited to enter the Mangaung MTB events on Saturday 29 October.
