Throughout the world there are family members and loved ones facing their fight with Cancer, Motor Neuron Disease, or some other form of life-threatening illness. Each person has a goal to either beat the disease or simply live the rest of their life pain free and comfortable.<\/p>\n

St Bernard\u2019s Hospice is a Non Profit Organisation that has spent the past 25 years dedicated to providing palliative care to patients diagnosed with a life-threatening illness, assisting with pain management, educating families and above all providing care and support to those in need.<\/p>\n

The St Bernard\u2019s Hospice Cycle Challenge will commence on the 23rdth November where 19 cyclists will be taking to the roads to raise much needed funds and awareness for the East London-based NPO. Participants will ride 300km from Port Elizabeth, and cycle through to East London over three consecutive days, completing 100km each day.<\/p>\n

“Each cyclist has a different story to tell, has a different reason for why they get on that bicycle and take on the challenge of cycling their set goal of 300km, and we are truly grateful to these cyclists doing so for our NPO” shares Marchel Brown; Resource Developer for St Bernard’s Hospice.<\/p>\n

Some cyclists label their bicycle with the names of the individuals fighting their own fight with cancer, showing their support and dedication, by completing the challenge ahead. Others use this time on the bicycle to pray for their loved ones in need of care or a miracle, some cyclists do it in commemoration of their loved one that has passed on, celebrating the life they lived; and then you have the cyclists celebrating their ride for the people in remission, the ones who have won their battle!<\/p>\n

The St Bernard\u2019s Hospice Cycle Challenge is an event filled with life and energy, each year familiar faces and new faces take part for their own personal reasons. “This is my first St Bernard’s Hospice Cycle Challenge, and I’m looking forward to hearing the remarkable stories shared in the care, love, support, and sacrifice as the cyclists invest their energy all to raise funds and awareness for St Bernard\u2019s Hospice\u201d further states Brown.<\/p>\n
