{"id":17346,"date":"2016-11-24T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2016-11-24T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bikehub.co.za\/news\/2016\/11\/24\/gouveris-looking-ahead-after-first-major-victory-r5858\/"},"modified":"2023-02-08T07:26:11","modified_gmt":"2023-02-08T07:26:11","slug":"gouveris-looking-ahead-after-first-major-victory-r5858","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bikehub.co.za\/news\/gouveris-looking-ahead-after-first-major-victory-r5858\/","title":{"rendered":"Gouveris looking ahead after first major victory"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After soloing to his first major win at the Daily Dispatch Cycle Tour in East London earlier this month, Bradley Gouveris is looking to take his good form into the 2017 season.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image\" href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-58780-0-45542800-1479968986.jpg\" data-fileid=\"847285\" data-fileext=\"jpg\" rel=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-fileid=\"847285\" class=\"ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed\" alt=\"ccs-58780-0-45542800-1479968986.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-58780-0-45542800-1479968986.jpg\" title=\"\"><\/a><span class=\"italic text-sm text-slate-500 block mt-1 mb-4\">Bradley Gouveris, racing for NMMU\u2019s Bestmed-Shukuma-Madibaz Cycling Club, crosses the line to win the Daily Dispatch Cycle Tour in East London.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The matriculant from Port Elizabeth\u2019s victory on a wet day was achieved in some style after going clear on the final climb of the 102km classic.<\/p>\n<p>Although it was a breakthrough performance, he said he had been plotting victory throughout the season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was one of three races I\u2019d identified to do well in this year,\u201d said the 18-year-old, who admitted he wasn\u2019t sure what he was in for on the day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRacing in East London was a bit foreign for me, so I didn\u2019t really know the competition I was up against.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut everything went right for me on the day, so I\u2019m happy to have pulled it off.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image\" href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-58780-0-85333700-1479968985.jpg\" data-fileid=\"847284\" data-fileext=\"jpg\" rel=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-fileid=\"847284\" class=\"ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed\" alt=\"ccs-58780-0-85333700-1479968985.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-58780-0-85333700-1479968985.jpg\" title=\"\"><\/a><span class=\"italic text-sm text-slate-500 block mt-1 mb-4\">Bradley Gouveris is planning to take his good form into 2017 after his first major victory in the Daily Dispatch Cycle Tour in East London.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p>Despite still being at school, Gouveris has become an integral cog in NMMU\u2019s Bestmed-Shukuma-Madibaz Cycling Club after some stand-out performances this year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeing with the Madibaz has really helped me,\u201d he said, singling out the coaching aspect as well as the opportunity to race alongside more experienced team-mates.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019ve given me loads of support and my cycling has improved, so I\u2019m definitely staying with them for 2017.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After soloing to his first major win at the Daily Dispatch Cycle Tour in East London earlier this month, Bradley Gouveris is looking to take his good form into the 2017 season.
