Photo: Capcha Photography.<\/span><\/p>\nHe said the third edition, presented by ASG Events in partnership with the City of Drakenstein on May 20, will take participants through the Paarl Mountain Nature Reserve, Rhebokskloof Wine Estate and past the Taal Monument.<\/p>\n
\u201cI can\u2019t put into words how beautiful the scenery is and how excited I am about the new single-track we\u2019ve created,\u201d said Herbst.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s an experience I can truly say the riders won\u2019t forget.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said they were providing 60km and 30km options to cater for riders of all levels.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor the long distance riders, there\u2019s a lot of new single-track and plenty of great views as they get to experience riding along the top of Paarl Mountain.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe route does have a kick or two in it so it will be for the more seasoned riders.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said they had placed a lot of focus on the shorter race and had included a number of custom-built tracks more suited to \u201cweekend warrior type riders\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn a lot of other events the shorter race is neglected, so we\u2019ve really concentrated on providing something that\u2019s really special.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said the 30km event incorporated some of the single-track sections \u2013 especially the newer ones \u2013 of the longer race.<\/p>\n
With much of the single-track for the revamped event created from scratch, Herbst said the route would offer a completely new experience for the field of about 1 000 that will take to the start at Rhebokskloof.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith the route we\u2019ve put together, along with the overall experience, the day will really be something special.\u201d<\/p>\n
