After winning La Classique Morbihan yesterday, the South African followed it up by sprinting to victory in Grand Prix of Plumelec-Morbihan today.

Moolman-Pasio was part of a four-rider group contesting the victory after slipping away in the final. Christina Perchtold was in the day’s main breakaway with two others, allowing the team to get a free ride. The move served as a launchpad for Moolman-Pasio who attacked shortly after Perchtold’s group was caught.

Moolman-Pasio says the team is executing race plans to perfection.

“Christina was incredible today to be in the breakaway and put the pressure on the other teams. It was incredible to watch the peloton chase full gas on the front but her break was still making up time. It was also nice for her to get on the podium with the climber’s prize because so often the girls do amazing jobs for the team and they aren’t the ones who get the limelight. Once again the team was fantastic. We made no mistakes and we’re executing everything perfectly,” a delighted Moolman-Pasio said.

The South African time trial champion is enjoying an incredible run of form. This weekend’s victories come off the back of a stage and overall win in Emakumeen XXX. Bira last Sunday. The results are an indication that she’s back to her best after sustaining a fracture at the end of last season that forced her to forfeit some early season goals.

“I couldn’t be in a better mind space right now. It was a tough start to the year with the injury and it just took maturity and patience to be realistic about the comeback. It was great to have a training block after the spring in the mountains. I really enjoy going into the mountains and having fresh air and peace and quiet and get a lot of energy from that,” she said.

“It’s also nice to be with the team and part of such a nice group. We’ve had quite a lot of setbacks with injuries and illness and this sounds like a cliché but once again we showed we’re a special group, every girl rides with heart. That’s why we’re having success and I am so grateful for all the support I have. To have teammates who believe in you makes all the difference.”

The double header in France has turned out to be a dream weekend for Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio.
