(irregular sprint) in the result\/ communiqu\u00e9. The team disagrees with the decision and protested it officially.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image\" href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-75009300-1499232589.jpg\" data-fileid=\"995525\" data-fileext=\"jpg\" rel=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-fileid=\"995525\" class=\"ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed\" alt=\"ccs-62657-0-75009300-1499232589.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-75009300-1499232589.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Peter Sagan rejected to have caused, or in any way intended to cause the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikehub.co.za\/features\/_\/news\/road\/international-road\/highlights-crashes-cause-chaos-on-stage-4-sagan-disqualified-r6711\" rel=\"external nofollow\">crash of Mark Cavendish<\/a> on the final 200m of the stage. Peter stayed on his line in the sprint and could not see Cavendish on the right side.<\/p>\n<p>The team applied for a redress of Peter Sagan&#8217;s result in stage 4.<\/p>\n<div class=\"pullquote\">\nIn the sprint I didn\u2019t know that Mark Cavendish was behind me. He was coming from the right side, and I was trying to go on Kristoff\u2019s wheel. Mark was coming really fast from the back and I just didn\u2019t have time to react and to go left. He came into me and he went into the fence. When I was told after the finish that Mark had crashed, I went straight away to find out how he was doing. We are friends and colleagues in the peloton and crashes like that are never nice. I hope Mark recovers soon.<br \/>\n<cite>Peter Sagan<\/cite>\n<\/div>\n<h2 class=\"text-2xl font-bold\">Update:<\/h2>\n<p>The appeal by BORA \u2013 hansgrohe has been refused.<\/p>\n<div class=\"pullquote\">\nI can only accept the decision of the jury, but I disagree.
