Well, here\u2019s something that might be more to your taste \u2013 the Tour de Franschhoek (<a href=\"https:\/\/tdfh.co.za\/\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">www.tdfh.co.za<\/a>) taking place on Saturday 22 July and Sunday 23 July on the final weekend of the Tour de France.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image\" href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-90828100-1499938107.jpg\" data-fileid=\"1001584\" data-fileext=\"jpg\" rel=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-fileid=\"1001584\" class=\"ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed\" alt=\"ccs-62657-0-90828100-1499938107.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-90828100-1499938107.jpg\" title=\"\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The local variety is a two-day tour around the beautiful Western Cape Town, which itself has strong French Huguenot associations and where locals gather each year to celebrate Bastille Day on the weekend prior to the Tour de Franschhoek.<\/p>\n<p>The Tour de Franschhoek\u2019s emphasis is on being laid back and having fun, but for the more competitive types there will be timed Strava King of the Mountain sections on the routes divided across weight categories of above and below 80kg\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>After each of the stages, the TDFH riders will get to gather in the Tour de France Fan Zone and watch the final two stages of the French event. And they won\u2019t be retiring to cramped caravans: rather their fine Franschhoek accommodation.<\/p>\n<p>Riders will tackle Saturday\u2019s 44km Stage 1, which takes them up and over the Franschhoek Pass from both directions. Riders will be \u201cseeded\u201d in three peletons \u2013 Avanc\u00e9e, Moyen and Ralentissez \u2013 with others of similar cycling ability.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday the 50km route includes the notorious Helshoogte Climb among its three King of the Mountain sections, which are linked together by neutral sections.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image\" href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-07903200-1499938109.jpg\" data-fileid=\"1001585\" data-fileext=\"jpg\" rel=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-fileid=\"1001585\" class=\"ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed\" alt=\"ccs-62657-0-07903200-1499938109.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-07903200-1499938109.jpg\" title=\"\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>According to the Tour de Franschhoek\u2019s organisers, the objective is to present a \u201crelaxed, enjoyable cycling tour\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe tour gives riders a chance to get out on their road bikes after weeks of following the Tour de France from your couch, and to socialise with like-minded people afterwards. In addition the wonderful riding experience, accommodation and food is all priced in rands, not euros.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"bg-slate-100 p-5\">\nThere are different packages on offer for participants with the daily rides offered from R250 per rider and lunches purchased on the day, in addition, there are all inclusive packages available on inquiry.
