{"id":16258,"date":"2018-01-03T09:45:00","date_gmt":"2018-01-03T09:45:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bikehub.co.za\/news\/2018\/01\/03\/shameeg-salie-joins-randwater-transnet-cycling-team-r7027\/"},"modified":"2023-02-08T06:15:03","modified_gmt":"2023-02-08T06:15:03","slug":"shameeg-salie-joins-randwater-transnet-cycling-team-r7027","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bikehub.co.za\/news\/shameeg-salie-joins-randwater-transnet-cycling-team-r7027\/","title":{"rendered":"Shameeg Salie joins Randwater-Transnet cycling team"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We are excited to reveal <a href=\"http:\/\/simakamo.co.za\/\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Team Randwater-Transnet<\/a> new signing for the 2018 season, Shameeg Salie, sprinter and track rider making an impressive addition to the squad who adds more power and diversity to the roster.<\/p>\n<p>Salie, came through the development ranks of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hotchillee.com\/\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">HotChillee<\/a>, then later rode for <a href=\"https:\/\/www2.dimensiondata.com\/en\/about-us\/team-dimension-data\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Team Dimension Data<\/a> Continental and most recently for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.alfabodyworks.co.za\/\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Team Alpha Body Works<\/a> based in Cape Town. \u201cRepresenting South Africa at the World Junior Track Championships was a great and memorable achievement,\u201d he said. It\u2019s great to ride for a cause bigger than yourself,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The 23-year-old added that he is a huge fan of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dragons.co.za\/\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Giant<\/a> brand and he cannot wait to take it out on the road. \u201cIt\u2019s very responsive on the climbs and quick in sprints.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m also looking forward to working alongside such a great bunch of riders whom I\u2019ve raced against in the past. They\u2019re all great fun and hardworking. The fact that the team places such a big emphasis on the educational achievements of its riders impresses me so much! I agree 100% with this approach, as so many youngsters want to be professional cyclists, which is a great goal to have, but very few make it to the top and it\u2019s crucial to have a long-term plan beyond the cycling.
