I was lucky enough to join the May edition this year.<\/p>\n<p>Aside from being an incredible bike riding experience (you can read about it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikehub.co.za\/features\/_\/articles\/ride-reports\/gravel-gees-at-tour-de-braai-r7314\" rel=\"external nofollow\">here<\/a>), there were some top-notch gravel bikes on display. Take a look at a few below:<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"text-2xl font-bold\">Canyon Grail CF SLX 8.0 DI2<\/h2>\n<p><a class=\"ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image\" href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-58780-0-46806200-1526381311.jpg\" data-fileid=\"1222756\" data-fileext=\"jpg\" rel=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-fileid=\"1222756\" class=\"ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed\" alt=\"ccs-58780-0-46806200-1526381311.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-58780-0-46806200-1526381311.jpg\" title=\"\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The recently released <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikehub.co.za\/features\/_\/gear\/gear-news\/canyon-announce-the-grail-gravel-bike-r7159\" rel=\"external nofollow\">Canyon Grail<\/a> CF SLX was Erik Kleinhans&#8217; eye-catching steed for this edition of Tour de Braai. The Hover bar is a unique design and the bike&#8217;s most noticeable feature. It is a completely integrated carbon cockpit with a double bar system designed to offer front-end damping without the additional weight of a suspension fork or active suspension system. Canyon claim that the hover bar adds only 120 grams to a conventional cockpit setup. The thin flattened portion of the top bar allows flex, absorbing gravel chatter particularly when the rider has their hands on the tops or the hoods. This model comes with the Shimano Ultegra DI2 11 speed drive train, disc brakes, and Reynolds Assault ATR Disc carbon wheels wrapped in Schwalbe G-One Bite tyres.<\/p>\n<div class=\"bg-slate-100 p-5\">\n<strong>Tyres:<\/strong> Schwalbe G-One Bite, 700 x 40C, Tubeless\n<\/div>\n<h2 class=\"text-2xl font-bold\">Specialized Diverge Expert<\/h2>\n<p><a class=\"ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image\" href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-58780-0-54387300-1526387206.jpg\" data-fileid=\"1222850\" data-fileext=\"jpg\" rel=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-fileid=\"1222850\" class=\"ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed\" alt=\"ccs-58780-0-54387300-1526387206.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-58780-0-54387300-1526387206.jpg\" title=\"\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Specialized Diverge Expert was the bike of choice for braaimaster Jan Braai (although he did also spend some time testing the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikehub.co.za\/features\/_\/gear\/reviews\/first-ride-2018-specialized-diverge-r6863\" rel=\"external nofollow\">S-Works<\/a> model as well). A SRAM Red 2x mechanical groupset with 11- 36T Shimano XTR cassette and 50\/34T chainrings provided much-needed gear range for climbing.
