Bartek Wolinski\/Red Bull Content Pool.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In the elite women\u2019s field, Denmark&#8217;s Annika Langvad had already kicked off a strong start to the weekend, having taken the win at the second ever XCC short track race on Friday evening.<\/p>\n<p>The reigning World Champion, Jolanda Neff, who had triumphed in some fashion at the previous round in Albstadt, Germany lead from the start. But the pack were wise to her plans in the opening phases of the last race and it was Langvad who lead the charge to reign her back in.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image\" href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-94743200-1527483093.jpg\" data-fileid=\"1232414\" data-fileext=\"jpg\" rel=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-fileid=\"1232414\" class=\"ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed\" alt=\"ccs-62657-0-94743200-1527483093.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ccs-62657-0-94743200-1527483093.jpg\" title=\"\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"italic text-sm text-slate-500 block mt-1 mb-4\">Jolanda Neff and Annika Langvad. Marrotte dropped a few bike lengths on the second half of the last lap and left Schurter to gun for his sixth win at the Czech venue with the youngster.<\/p>\n<p>The victor of round one, New Zealander Sam Gaze, crashed early in the race amidst one of the Czech track\u2019s infamous rock gardens. The second of the two young stars in ascendancy, Mathieu Van Der Poel, fell victim to the rocks shortly after.<\/p>\n<p>That left Schurter in a group of three with France\u2019s Maxime Marrotte and another Kiwi, Anton Cooper.
