The Staalwater MTB Challenge<\/a> offers four distances from The Caledon Casino, Hotel & Spa. With a 15km trail run distance on the same day, it gives the outdoor enthusiasts from all abilities and ages the opportunity to enjoy this beautiful area on August 19th Presented by Bike Hub, mountain bikers must not miss this riding in the Overberg!<\/p>\n

It is the 9th year the event is held by Dirtopia and ideal conditions are expected for the riders & runners. The event is also a fund-raiser for the local Round Table charity that will manage the marshals and refreshment stations on the routes to raise funds for their projects with the community. Waterpoints will have fruit and snacks like banana bread, jellies, Coke \/ Powerade and of course water.<\/p>\n

The NEW 75km route is a gravel grinder with wide open roads, whereas the 60km has a section of mountain singletrack. The 40km funride everyone can enjoy, and children & beginners will love the 15km. Entry fees are from R140 depending on the distance.<\/p>\n

Pre-entries close by Thursday,16th early morning or riders can do late entries on Friday at registration at an extra fee. On the 17th it is open at Dirtopia Trail Centre and bike shop on Delvera farm near Stellenbosch between 10am and 2pm, but there will also be entries accepted on the morning at the Caledon venue from 7am on Sunday. Come to Delvera Friday and get a free coffee at Dirtopia Caf\u00e9 when you show your event race number. Winter sales of gear and accessories too, plus a few goodies for the pre-entrants.<\/p>\n

The late August date coincides with vast fields of yellow canola blossoms and lush green wheat fields, making for a visual feast not to be missed. The venue is easy to find on the N2 and the name of the event comes from the restorative powers of the hot springs at the hotel spa.<\/p>\n

Lots of entertainment at the Casino with surprise draws, kiddies play area, bar, meal stalls and more. All finishers will receive a medal and there are wonderful prizes to be won in the lucky draw. From wine to vouchers to products from Giant, FALKE, Cape Storm and The Caledon.<\/p>\n
