Held in the Western Cape region of South Africa, it pits participants against eight days of relentlessly rough terrain with almost constant climbing and descending, and searing temperatures.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<div class=\"w-full aspect-video\">\n<div><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"200\" height=\"113\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/fqOK7mEvRt8?feature=oembed\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Riders compete in teams of two but there are no teams cars and no mechanical assistance here. Racers rely on their teammates, and sleep beside them too at organised camps between the stages. To tackle the Cape Epic, you\u2019d better be more than just teammates but firm friends as well.<\/p>\n<p>In Lachlan Morton and Alex Howes, EF Pro Cycling had a duo dialled into the demands of mountain biking, and the scene was set for another alternative calendar escapade.
