After two successful rides it was decided to join forces with Red Cherry Events to develop the nature of the ride. The idea of the tour as it is today was developed by The Sanparks Honorary Rangers in conjunction with Red Cherry Events who proposed the idea to create a one-of-a-kind bush MTB experience. The founders began planning the tour, working with local communities and park officials to create a route that would showcase the best of the park while also being challenging and rewarding for riders.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"image.jpeg\" class=\"ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed\" data-fileid=\"1707842\" data-ratio=\"56.25\" data-unique=\"r51lg5ttm\" style=\"height: auto;\" width=\"1200\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/image.00d74016dcce23b2d95d5c5ff0adc0be-1.jpeg\" title=\"\">\n<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"text-2xl font-bold\">\n\tThe Tour de Addo<br \/>\n<\/h2>\n<p>\n\tOfficially launched in 2020 but stymied by Covid, it has grown in popularity among cyclists from around the world. The tour offers riders the opportunity to experience the park in a way that is not possible under normal circumstances as they are able to ride through undisturbed areas of the park and see the elephants, lions, and other wildlife up close. It is quite something to sit on your saddle and be confronted by a herd of elephants. Thank heavens for the armed ranger!\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"image.jpeg\" class=\"ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed\" data-fileid=\"1707843\" data-ratio=\"56.25\" data-unique=\"v2szlib9i\" style=\"height: auto;\" width=\"1200\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/image.bf189061103bd2c0aae3e016deef333b-1.jpeg\" title=\"\">\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tA rider, who completed the tour in 2021, described it as <em>&#8220;a unique opportunity to experience the beauty of the Eastern Cape and the Addo Elephant National Park in a way that is not possible on a traditional safari.&#8221;<\/em>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"image.jpeg\" class=\"ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed\" data-fileid=\"1707844\" data-ratio=\"51.42\" data-unique=\"ey65uhb28\" style=\"height: auto;\" width=\"1200\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/image.3c7277b27b86978efaf4a6cdf93bb97c-1.jpeg\" title=\"\">\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe Tour de Addo is fully supported with lead and recovery vehicles, medics, and guides on hand to point out interesting aspects of the flora and fauna and to help riders throughout the tour. Riders spend 2 nights at each campsite following different routes every day, allowing them to fully immerse themselves in the bushveld experience. There is great food, hot showers and awesome camaraderie in the tented villages that are set up in the wilds. Real beds with comfortable mattresses and clean linen are waiting inside comfortable tents.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"image.jpeg\" class=\"ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed\" data-fileid=\"1707845\" data-ratio=\"56.25\" data-unique=\"l9dwebnwr\" style=\"height: auto;\" width=\"1200\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/image.2800f2bc234e82872ffb5a80e48313ed-1.jpeg\" title=\"\">\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe tour is open to riders of all skill levels, but it is important to note that it is a challenging tour and riders should be prepared for long days in the saddle and some steep climbs. The safety net is that we always have vehicles following us, so the option to load your bike up, whenever you wish, is always available. E-bikes are welcome and there is a charging station for bikes, phones and cameras.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"image.jpeg\" class=\"ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed\" data-fileid=\"1707846\" data-ratio=\"66.67\" data-unique=\"5orvsp21m\" style=\"height: auto;\" width=\"1200\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.bikehub.co.za\/production\/uploads\/2023\/02\/image.f2797e521491bc456dca4e8ed78794dd-1.jpeg\" title=\"\">\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tTour de Addo boasts a no wallet village. This means that once you are entered, all your drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic are covered throughout the trip.
