Introducing the GoPro Photo of the Day feature, where each month one selected Photo of the Day submission will win a GoPro Hero 3+ Silver Edition.

We’ve got GoPro on board to sponsor one GoPro Hero 3+ Silver Edition a month for our Photo of the Day feature. Fantastic, isn’t it?

This is the way it works:

Each day we will choose a Photo of the Day that will be featured on the Home Page. One Photo of the Day per month will be chosen as Photo of the Month and the winner will be given a GoPro Hero 3+ Silver Edition. Pretty simple. But now for some T’s & C’s:

  • Submissions must be original, i.e. not something you found on the internet
  • Photos have to be cycling related
  • Each Photo of the Day will be selected from any of the submissions
  • A member cannot have more than one Photo of the Day selected a month
  • Each member can submit as many photos as they like
  • If a member has already won the Photo of the Month prize previously they will not be eligible to win it again, though they can still get Photo of the Day
  • The winner will be decided by the members of The Hub via a general vote at the end of each month
  • The Hub SA and GoPro reserve the right to use the submitted photos for promotional purposes

The prize

What’s Included:

  • HERO3+ Silver Edition Camera
  • 131’/40m Waterproof Housing
  • Higher Capacity Li-ion Battery
  • Quick Release Buckle
  • Vertical Quick Release Buckle
  • 1 Curved + 1 Flat Adhesive Mount
  • 3-Way Pivot Arm
  • USB Charging Cable
  • 16GB memory card

Don’t get discouraged if you’re not a professional photographer. We are looking for interesting, creative, even lucky shots taken with a wide variety of cameras, from SLR’s to smartphones, and even GoPros.

So start shooting and submitting. The first ‘Photo of the Day’ will feature on 1 February 2014.

This is frustrating. I submitted 4 photos. I haven't had any communication. There is no way of seeing others submissions. I think someons should start a new competition with revised rules.

To me the idea is more to see everyone's pict, especially of local events.

What a disappointment to click on a photo of the day thread, and there isn't even a single photo anywhere. Unsubscribe. I'll go back to "where has your bike taken you", "pics that make you want to ride", and "ladies and bikes" threads. At least they have pics.

Currently only the selected Photos of the day are shown.

We are considering how all submissions could be visible either during the month of submission or revealed at the end of the month. Perhaps there is room to expand selection to any photo submitted to the Gallery in various categories, e.g. local events. etc.

We're open to feedback and suggestions. It will be a long running feature and we'd like to ensure it best serves the community.

The Photo's of the day are primarily featured in the 'Photo of the day' section (via the main menu tab). We will begin posting them in this thread as well so people can follow that way.

And so they cheaply become the new owners of YOUR media...

The reason for this is so that submitted photos can be syndicated via Twitter and Facebook used in the adverts promoting the competition. E.g. in adverts like the below we'll use a 'Photo of the day' entry in place of the current image.

We can amend the terms to be explicit in this regard and limit the usage rights.

In which case... the only real way to know is to go to Karkloof. Look at the road gap. Pick up your jaw off the ground. Check your undies for skidmarks.

Yes, Google image search has already caught out a few people trying their luck, even an image taken from Martyn Ashton's Road Bike Party.

hahahaha what a cheak.

What is the selection process though?

Do you look at all the pictures again everyday, or do you cancel out the entries up till the last selection was nmade and only the latest photos are chosen?

We look at all the photos from the month and select from all of them.

Hi. Has there been a decision regarding the Feb competition and its odd voting numbers?

A note on voting issues

Following some issues with suspicious jumps in vote numbers on Friday and subsequent investigations we took the decision to disqualify all votes received on Friday.

While we were unable to link the multiple votes received to any specific entrant, it was clear that multiple accounts had been created over a short space of time using disposable email addresses purely to cast votes.

Although, in this instance this did not change the end result, we will be taking preventative measures to ensure the voting process more robust going forward.

How about this month's votes? It seems quite suspicious .... I cast my votes, and it didn't show in the numbers? Who's rigging votes?
