UCI MTB World Cup XCO Round 1: Nove Mesto na Morave

This weekend will see the start of the 2015 season for the cross-country series of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup presented by Shimano, in Nove Mesto na Morave, Czech Republic. The Nove Mesto event, awarded the title of best cross-country World Cup multiple times, is the fitting place to launch the 25th season of the cross-country World Cup series. In addition, riders and countries are chasing every point they can in the race for Olympic qualifying for Rio next year.

South African Entrants

According to the UCI’s entrants list, the following South African’s have signed up to race in Nove Mesto na Morave:

Men Elite XCO:

Live Coverage – 24 May 2015

Redbull.tv will be streaming both the Elite Women’s and Men’s events live. The women’s race coverage starts at 11:00 and the Men’s race at 14:00.

On DStv, SuperSport 8 will be showing the Elite Women’s race live from 11:00 and a replay of the Men’s event will be shown at 21:00.

Smarts won that for Kulhavy. He knew he had to have a gap coming into the final tech sections. Stuck it to Schurter mentally on that tough climb and sailed home. Super race.

Kulhavy was following the same tactic as Epic. He was sitting with the front bunch (Nino), conserving his energy till the end and then he used his power when he spotted the correct opportunity.

Dont know if we watched the same race, he was definitely not sitting behind Nino conserving he's energy, it was a all out battle between the two of them from start to finish

okay maybe not conserving energy, but he kept his attack till the end. rather than attacking earlier and blowing out too early. was a great race to watch.
