Coffee our drug of choice

By Press Office · 38 comments

Coffee and cycling have been in a partnership since the 1960’s. Way back when a Belgian “cannibal” rode for an Italian pro-team, sponsored by a Milanese coffee machine company.

Apres Velo have recently launched their “caffeine laden” range of t-shirts.

Ever since I became a passionate recreational cyclist and lover of the two wheeled chariot in all its many forms, I have noticed the growing affinity between cyclist and caffeine. The Café Culture amongst cyclists has certainly reigned supreme and continues to grow. The one question invariably asked during the ride is “so where we going for coffee afterwards” So what is this love affair between cyclist and the post ride Café meet all about? Is it the pursuit of the cyclists “drug of choice”, the comradeship of mates who embrace the same passion sharing their bike stories post ride, or a combination of both? My answer is simple – It really is all about LIVING THE RIDE – the freedom, the friendships, the stories that like minded souls share over a hot cuppa post ride. This is what APRES VELO is all about and my very inspiration for designing a range of TEES that tell this story and show the passion. Welcome TEAM CAFFEINE – GET YOUR FIX both on and off the bike and wear your heart on your TEE!
The Big Cog at Apres Velo

Globalex is the South African importer of Après Velo based out of Hout Bay, the epi-centre of cycling on the Western Cape #houtbaycycling. It’s not just another importer jumping on the cycling market growth curve; it’s an established family-owned business based on a passion for riding bicycles, enjoying the South African outdoors and, well, improving the image of South African bicycle riders, both on and off the bike…

Globalex has an online store at www.bicyclegear.co.za and you can find Globalex stands at selected cycle expos, including the upcoming Telkom 947 Cycle Challenge Expo at Ticket Pro Dome from 17–19 November 2016. The Après Velo Caffeine Range is currently on sale, as are other non-caffeinated ranges.

The Après Velo 100% cotton t-shirts are enzyme washed for a super-soft feel, while a high-quality discharge print has been used. Sizes range from Small to Extra Large for both men and women. Pricing per short-sleeved t-shirt ranges from R450–R550.

Head to www.bicyclegear.co.za and check out the range.

Just walked in here. My nose was attacked by the smell of poo and urine mixed with some other thing I don't want to know...

So glad I did not bring coffee with.

But the Prof I am at gave me a cup of Starbucks coffee. So I am sorted

All our new ranges are priced at R450-R499. We have bought/stocked  larger quantities to bring the price down.

You always need a cool cycling t-shirt to drink premium coffee in after your ride.

Good barristers cost way more!

Specially if you are in the UK and someone is taking you to court for serving crappy coffee to your employees, however one does not have to be a trained barista to make a decent cup of java for a person in a R100 mr price shirt...
